The 2008 1 Ounce Silver Lunar Year of The Mouse Coin is the first coin issued in Perth Mint's Lunar II Series. The Perth Mint Lunar Series, first introduced in 1999, has become a popular collection and known for its outstanding quality and beautiful coins designs. The mint launches a different animal design for its Lunar Series every year.
The obverse features the profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by Raphael Maklouf. The coin's reverse depicts two mouses on a bed of straw with pumpkins in the background. As well as the inscription 'Year of the Mouse' and the Chinese character for 'mouse,' The coin's design also includes the Perth Mint's 'P' mint mark.
These coins are also a legal tender of the Australian Currency Act 1965, which makes them a sought-after addition to any portfolio.
