Description
Antique split-finger leather baseball glove by Dubow marked "305" on its heel. Jacob Dubow established the Dubow company in 1912 in Chicago and expanded into sporting equipment in 1918.This handsome leather glove with a one inch web from the index finger to the thumb, has its original metal button (marked "Dubow Chicago") on the front for the closure strap. The glove has separate fingers. It measures 8.5" tall and 8" wide. On the pocket of the glove is the "Dubow" impression in the hide, below which is a faint impression of a triangle shape with illegible words. Below that on the heel of the glove is the impression "305".
Please note that faded ink name of original owner is on the outer hand strap. No other markings on glove.
The glove surface and condition are very good considering use and age. The leather is soft; there are no tears, no major stains- just age-appropriate wear. The seams are tight and the inner layer leather is very good. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS AS THE CONDITION REPORT. Additional photos can be provided.
The glove appears to be tanned cowhide. It is in the original condition as found and was played with by a a young boy in Cripple Creek CO in the early 1900s.
